Couples Counselling Geelong

At Bo Tree Counselling, we offer trusted, compassionate and professional couples relationship  counselling near Geelong. Whether you’re navigating conflict, feeling distant, or simply wanting to deepen your connection, we’re here to help.

Couples come to counselling for all kinds of reasons; some are facing ongoing arguments or struggling to communicate, while others feel distant, overwhelmed, or stuck in painful cycles they can’t seem to shift.

You might be navigating challenges like anxiety in the relationship, intimacy concerns, feelings of disconnection, betrayal, substance use, parenting differences, financial stress, or the pressures of a new baby. Sometimes it’s a health crisis or simply the weight of everyday life that has worn down your connection.

And for some couples, the relationship may be coming to an end, and they need support to separate thoughtfully especially when children are involved.

Wherever you are in your journey, couples counselling offers a safe, supportive space to pause, reflect, and begin to rebuild (or redefine) your relationship with care and clarity.

How Couples Counselling Works: A Step-by-Step Process

Lasting change in a relationship doesn’t happen overnight but with the right support, it can happen. Here’s how we’ll work together, step by step:

01.

Initial Couples Session

We’ll begin by exploring your relationship story what’s been happening, what’s felt difficult, and what you both hope to get out of

counselling. You’ll leave with a few practical tools you can start using straight away to ease tension and strengthen communication.

02.

Individual Sessions

Each of you will be invited to attend three individual 50-minute sessions. These provide a safe, neutral space to explore your own thoughts, feelings, and hopes for the relationship.

We hold these individual sessions with care and confidentiality. However, in couples counselling, we follow a no-secrets policy meaning anything shared individually that significantly impacts the relationship may be gently brought into the shared space, if it helps support honesty, growth, and healing for you both.

03.

Ongoing Couples Session

Once we’ve laid that foundation, we’ll come back together in joint sessions. This is where we explore deeper patterns, practice healthier

communication, rebuild trust, and find new ways to support and understand one another.

We typically recommend 6 to 10 sessions to start, depending on your needs. There’s no pressure just a steady, supportive process to help you reconnect, rebuild, or move forward with clarity.
