Your First Therapy Session

"Taking the first step can feel uncertain, but you won’t be doing it alone."

Whether you’re coming in for individual counselling, couples therapy, or simply curious about how this might help, you might be feeling nervous, unsure of what to say, or wondering if you’ll be able to open up.

 

These feelings are completely normal. There’s no pressure to share everything at once, or even at all. Our first session is about getting to know each other, understanding what brings you in, and creating a space where you feel safe, respected, and in control of the pace.

 

Just by showing up, you’ve already taken a powerful step toward change, and we honour that deeply.

What to Expect Before You Arrive

1. Take Your Time

Before booking, feel free to explore our website to understand how we work. Read about our approach, services we offer, fees, and FAQs to get a sense of whether Bo Tree Counselling is the right fit for you.

 

2. Book Your Session

Choose a time that suits you using our easy online booking system. You’ll receive a confirmation email straight away, followed by friendly reminders closer to your session.

 

3. Complete a Few Quick Forms

Once you’ve booked, you’ll be sent a short intake and consent form. This gives us a clearer picture of how we can best support you, and helps ensure our time together is focused and meaningful.

4. Arrive (In Person or Online)

Your session will take place either in-person at our Highton location or online via Telehealth, depending on your preference. There’s no dress code, no need to bring anything, just yourself.

You don’t need to have it all figured out.

You don’t need to tell your whole story.

You just need to begin.
